Andromeda was chosen to light a number of rooms in the Trianon Palace Hotel, Versailles.
The Hotel is 500 m from the royal residence of Louis 14th with a splendid view of Versailles Castle. It is not just any old hotel, but a historic location... the Treaty of Versailles was in fact signed in one of its rooms, the Clémenceau.
Andromeda was chosen to light the Hotel's Main Entrance, Reception, Fine Dining Restaurant and Brassierie. The lighting and setting of each room was designed to enhance the architectural and functional context in order to decorate the spaces with a touch of the unexpected.
The result is a mix of Murano glass structures characterised by different styles and moods: in the grand hall, versatile structures from the Knit collection designed by Karim Rashid; in the Fine Dining Restaurant, a 4 m high "waterfall of multicoloured pearls", and in the sumptuous Brasserie, one of Andromeda's great classics, Le Roi c'est moi, a reinterpretation of the Venetian chandelier - and there could be no more fitting location for it than the Versailles palace.
Andromeda's president, Gianluca Vecchi, personally coordinates the division responsible for creating the personalised projects.
Vecchi explains: "Our ambition is to make hand-made glass lighting in collaboration with the world's top architects and designers.
We pay particular attention to the hand working of the glass in the glassworks, design of the collections and the technological innovation of the light sources. We also give priority to energy saving because although we produce luxury products, we must never forget our environmental responsibility towards the planet. This is why we ever more use low consumption long life lights." |
